Maple Leaf Foods reported second-quarter adjusted earnings per share of C$0.44, up from C$0.33 a year earlier, as revenue climbed 2% to C$1.02B. Adjusted EBITDA rose 4.8% to C$137M, with margins expanding 40 basis points to 13.4%.

The company’s earnings before taxes increased to C$58M from C$54M, while earnings from continuing operations rose to C$41M, or C$0.33 per share, from C$39M, or C$0.31 per share. Net debt stood at C$1,070M, with leverage at 2.2x trailing-twelve-month adjusted EBITDA, slightly higher than 2.1x a year ago.
