Lycopodium has secured a A$93m ($65.5m) engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract for Artemis Gold’s Blackwater Mine Expanded phase two (EP2) project in Canada.
The Blackwater operation is an open-pit, truck and shovel gold and silver mine in central British Columbia (BC), around 160km south-west of Prince George and 446km north-east of Vancouver
Commercial production at the mine began in May 2025. Artemis Gold has set out a multiphase expansion programme for Blackwater, after which total production capacity to expected to reach 21 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). EP2 is designed to add 13mtpa of throughput capacity.
Combined with the phase 1A project (8mtpa), this would take total throughput capacity at Blackwater to 21mtpa. Lycopodium has already been providing EPCM services for phase 1A. It also worked on earlier elements of the EP2 development, including preparation of the feasibility study and front-end engineering and design services for the new plant.
