The London Stock Exchange will introduce an overnight trading venue in the first half of 2027, operating from 5:00 pm to 7:50 am London time. The new platform will initially focus on exchange-traded products tracking UK and US markets, separate from its main market hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

The move follows growing competition from crypto markets and tokenized equity platforms offering round-the-clock trading. LSE CEO Julia Hoggett noted rising demand from retail traders to access global assets via London’s timezone.

The initiative aims to capture liquidity outside traditional trading hours, aligning with trends seen in other global exchanges expanding into near-24-hour operations.
