Major liquefied natural gas exporters are targeting Cambodia as a new market for fuel supply, following the country’s development of its first LNG-powered power plant. The U.S., Australia, Canada, and Southeast Asian nations have expressed interest in supplying the facility, according to Cambodia’s energy minister.
Cambodia currently sources 63% of its electricity from renewable energy, but the shift toward LNG reflects growing demand for reliable power. The new plant marks a strategic move to diversify energy sources amid regional economic expansion.
