Laramide Resources has secured exploration licenses in Sweden’s Hotagen and Arjeplog-Arvidsjaur regions, marking its entry into Europe’s uranium sector. The move follows legislative changes allowing uranium mining in Sweden after a long-standing ban, opening access to historically significant deposits like Kläppibäcken and Pleutajokk.

The licensed areas are among Sweden’s most prospective for uranium, with decades of exploration by government and industry participants. Hotagen and Arjeplog-Arvidsjaur feature multiple uranium occurrences, including vein and metasomatic deposits, and have been highlighted in global uranium mineral compilations.

Laramide, which operates in the US and Australia, aims to leverage Sweden’s policy shift to expand its resource portfolio. The company’s CEO called the change one of the most significant in the global uranium sector, signaling potential for increased European supply.
