Kroger and Instacart have rolled out a combined grocery and prescription delivery service across nearly all Kroger-owned banners. The offering, branded Grocery & Prescription Delivery, allows customers to order groceries and eligible prescriptions in a single transaction.

The service links shoppers to over 2,200 Kroger pharmacy locations through Instacart’s delivery platform. Kroger pharmacy staff will fill and verify prescriptions before Instacart shoppers handle delivery. The initiative follows Kroger’s $1.65bn acquisition of rival Giant Eagle last month.

Kroger Health president Colleen Lindholz stated the service merges convenience with personalized pharmacy care. Instacart’s chief commercial officer emphasized the partnership’s focus on preserving trust in the pharmacy experience.
