Koppers lowered its full-year adjusted EBITDA outlook after higher costs offset a 3% sales increase in the second quarter.

Koppers reported second-quarter sales of $520 million, up 3% year over year, but adjusted EBITDA fell 7.9% to $71 million due to higher coal tar, freight, and logistics costs. Adjusted earnings per share were $1.37, while GAAP results showed a net loss from non-cash charges tied to facility changes.

The company previously expected stronger profitability but revised its full-year adjusted EBITDA outlook downward. First-half operating cash flow hit a record $96 million, contrasting with weaker earnings performance.

Koppers accelerated the shutdown of its Stickney, Illinois, distillation activity to September 2026, shifting operations to Denmark. The move aims to generate $15 million to $20 million in annual EBITDA benefits and reduce capital spending.
