Higher global vehicle sales and strong electrified vehicle demand offset US import tariffs and increased incentives for the automaker.
Kia Corporation posted a 2.3% year-on-year increase in second-quarter net profit to KRW 2,327.8 trillion ($1.59 billion), driven by record global vehicle deliveries. Operating profit declined 4.9% to KRW 2,628.5 trillion amid higher costs.
Global sales revenue surged 12.6% to a record KRW 33,037.0 trillion, while wholesale deliveries rose 4.5% to 851,639 vehicles. Electrified vehicle sales jumped 60% to 296,000 units, accounting for 35% of total sales.
The company expects to meet full-year guidance, targeting 3.35 million global vehicle sales in 2026, supported by new BEV models and sustained demand for hybrids and electric vehicles.
