Research shows Kalshi’s 15-minute BTC contracts now predict Binance trades, with correlation rising nearly fivefold since January.
Bitcoin’s price action on Kalshi is increasingly preceding moves on Binance, according to new research. A financial forecasting firm found that Kalshi’s 15-minute BTC contracts now show a modest but growing predictive correlation with Binance’s subsequent trades, rising from 0.036 in January to 0.173 in August.
The correlation, though still small in absolute terms, has surged nearly fivefold over eight months. Analysts attribute the shift to rising liquidity and trading volume on Kalshi, where sophisticated firms use order books and proprietary data to forecast BTC movements 5-30 seconds ahead.
The findings suggest high-frequency traders may be leveraging Kalshi’s contracts to front-run broader market moves, marking a potential shift in crypto trading dynamics.
