Kale Foods has acquired Swedish plant-based brand Färsodlarna from investment firm Novax, marking a strategic move to consolidate its presence in the Nordic sustainable food market. Financial details of the deal, which includes Färsodlarna’s retail operations, were not disclosed.

Färsodlarna, known for its frozen meat alternatives made from Swedish-grown legumes and rapeseed, has established a foothold in Swedish grocery retail. The brand’s product range includes veggie meatballs, burgers, and mince products, marketed as additive-free and clean-label. Kale Foods plans to integrate Färsodlarna’s operations immediately, citing synergies in distribution, marketing, and sales.

Conny Swahn, CEO of Kale Foods, described the acquisition as a continuation of the company’s M&A strategy, emphasizing the potential for expanding the plant-based category. The deal aligns with Kale Foods’ broader goal of driving growth in sustainable food offerings across the region.
