JetBlue’s second-quarter net loss widened to $247 million amid an 81% surge in fuel expenses, though revenue growth partially offset the impact.

JetBlue Airways reported a $247 million net loss for Q2 2026, deepening from a $74 million loss in the same period last year. The wider deficit was driven by an 81% increase in fuel costs, which reached $911 million for the quarter. The airline paid an average of $4.23 per gallon of jet fuel, up from $2.40 a year earlier.

Revenue rose 14.5% year-over-year to $2.7 billion, with revenue per available seat mile climbing 10.9%. The adjusted loss per share was 66 cents, narrower than analysts’ forecast of 71 cents. JetBlue reinstated its full-year outlook, projecting $3.49 per gallon for fuel and a negative 2% to 5% adjusted operating margin.

The company said it recaptured nearly 50% of higher fuel costs, exceeding its prior 30% to 40% expectation. Chief Financial Officer Ursula Hurley noted progress on controllable factors in a statement.
