Kuwait and Bahrain report attacks amid US-Iran conflict
The conflict between the US and Iran has widened, with Kuwait and Bahrain reporting attacks. Multiple explosions were reported across Kuwait following Iranian retaliatory missile strikes.
Kuwait’s air defences responded to hostile drone threats, while sirens were activated across Bahrain. Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported US strikes on sites near Sirik Port and Bandar Abbas in southern Iran.
The attacks raise the risk premium on oil due to the countries’ proximity to key Gulf shipping and production infrastructure. Any disruption to facilities in Kuwait or Bahrain is likely to reinforce market nervousness over the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf energy flows.
