IDR slips to 17857 as rising oil prices and global yields offset improved domestic sentiment ahead of Bank Indonesia’s policy guidance.

The Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) declined modestly to 17857, pressured by higher oil prices and elevated global yields despite improved domestic sentiment. President Prabowo’s fiscal deficit target of 2.4% for 2027 and the nomination of Destry Damayanti as Bank Indonesia (BI) governor eased concerns over policy continuity and state intervention.

Technical indicators show bearish momentum in USD/IDR waning, with two-way trade likely. Resistance is seen at 17940, while support levels are at 17760 and 16620. The Rupiah remains sensitive to external factors, including oil-price swings and broader risk sentiment.

Market focus shifts to BI’s policy decision, where FX stability and guidance may outweigh the rate outcome for IDR direction.
