Gold prices in India advanced on Friday, reaching INR 13,908.17 per gram, a 0.3% increase from Thursday’s INR 13,866.27. The price per tola also rose to INR 162,218.60 from INR 161,733.50.
The gains reflect adjustments to international gold prices converted to local currency and measurement units. Prices are updated daily based on market rates at publication time but may vary slightly across local markets.
Central banks globally added 1,136 tonnes of gold worth $70 billion to reserves in 2022, underscoring demand for the metal as a safe-haven asset and inflation hedge.
