The UK-based insurance provider enters the Australian market, appointing a senior legal counsel to lead operations.
Ignite Specialty Risk has launched its Australian operations, marking a strategic expansion into the region. The company appointed Lucinda Stormont-Sainsbury, a veteran with 15 years of experience in underwriting and insurance law, to head the new division based in Sydney.
The move follows a period of sustained international growth for Ignite, which specializes in litigation risk, tax liability, and contingent risk insurance across the UK, Europe, and the US. Stormont-Sainsbury previously served as senior legal counsel at HDI Global, advising branches across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
Ignite’s chief underwriting officer, David Green, stated the company is making a long-term commitment to Australia, citing strong demand for its specialist insurance solutions. The firm aims to build relationships with local brokers and legal advisers.
