HSBC will establish a global AI centre of excellence in Singapore in the second half of 2026, aiming to enhance its AI capabilities across wealth management, payments, and treasury operations. The bank plans to recruit more than 100 AI specialists for the hub, focusing on natural language processing, data science, and AI governance.

The initiative follows a multi-year partnership with Google Cloud announced last month, designed to accelerate AI adoption in HSBC’s global operations. The Singapore centre will collaborate with local educational institutions and government bodies to build a talent pipeline.

HSBC CEO Georges Elhedery stated the hub will drive a global AI vision, enabling real-time, personalised customer experiences while maintaining human oversight. The bank expects the centre to support scalable AI deployment across its businesses.
