Harvard Management Co. disclosed a $2.2 billion stake in SpaceX, its largest single stock position, in a quarterly securities filing. The endowment’s total U.S. equity holdings stood at $4.3 billion at the time of the report, with the overall endowment valued at $57 billion as of June 2025.

SpaceX went public in June at $135 per share and closed Friday at $140, down 0.9%. The company’s market capitalization now exceeds $1.8 trillion. Other universities, including the University of California, also reported significant SpaceX positions, highlighting gains from early venture capital investments.

The disclosure comes amid financial pressures for universities, including reduced federal research grants and demographic shifts affecting enrollment.
