Gymshark founder and CEO Ben Francis is in talks to repurchase a portion of the 21% stake held by private equity firm General Atlantic. The £200m investment in 2020 valued the fitness apparel brand at £1bn, with Francis retaining majority control at around 70% ownership.

General Atlantic secured a board seat following the deal. While Francis has considered a full buyout, discussions focus on a partial repurchase, which would increase his stake. Banks are reportedly involved in financing the potential transaction.

Gymshark, known for direct-to-consumer sales and influencer marketing, has faced slower growth amid rising competition and weaker consumer spending. The company restructured operations last year, cutting hundreds of jobs to improve efficiency in European markets.
