John Hummel joins Grip Fulfillment as president, bringing decades of frozen and refrigerated distribution experience to the e-commerce logistics firm.
Grip Fulfillment, a Miami-based cold chain logistics provider, has appointed John Hummel as president of its national fulfillment operations. Hummel, a 40-year industry veteran, will oversee the company’s handling of perishable e-commerce orders, including pet food, prepared meals, and groceries, where precision in temperature control directly impacts margins and product integrity.
Prior to joining Grip, Hummel led Burris Logistics’ Custom Distribution division, managing five frozen and refrigerated distribution centers and eight direct-to-consumer fulfillment facilities. He previously served as president of United Natural Foods Inc.’s Central/Southeast Region, overseeing eight distribution centers with over $6 billion in annual sales, and helped scale Reinhart Foodservice from $2 billion to $7 billion in revenue.
The hire underscores Grip’s focus on optimizing cold chain efficiency, where miscalculations in refrigerant or transit time can erode profitability or damage goods. Hummel’s experience spans large-scale distribution networks, aligning with Grip’s expansion in e-commerce fulfillment.
