Goldman Sachs posted Q2 revenue of $20.34 billion, beating estimates by $4.21 billion as trading and dealmaking surged.

Goldman Sachs reported second-quarter revenue of $20.34 billion, a 39.5% year-over-year increase, surpassing the $16.13 billion consensus estimate. Earnings per share rose 92% to $20.98, well above the $14.48 forecast, driven by strong trading and advisory activity.

The results reflect a rebound in capital markets, with Goldman co-leading SpaceX’s record IPO, advising on Alphabet’s secondary stock sale, and steering the $67 billion NextEra-Dominion Energy merger. Volatility in oil, bonds, and equities further boosted trading desks.

Shares surged 7.5% to an intraday high of $1,136, nearing a record close above $1,106.37. The stock is on track for its best single-day gain in over a year.
