Goldman Sachs reported a 78% year-over-year increase in second-quarter net earnings, reaching $6.6 billion or $21 per share. The results surpassed analyst expectations of $14.5 per share, with total net revenue rising 39% to $20.3 billion against a $16.2 billion forecast.

The bank’s equities trading division saw revenue climb 72% to $7.4 billion, while investment banking revenue hit $3.4 billion, the highest since 2021. Strong M&A advisory and equity underwriting, including AI-related deals, drove the gains.

Shares rose modestly in early trading, extending a year-to-date gain of 18% as of Monday’s close. Executives cited robust pipelines and continued client demand for strategic transactions.
