Ultium Cells, a joint venture between General Motors and LG Energy Solution, has postponed the recall of hundreds of workers at its Ohio plant from June to August. The company cited weak electric vehicle demand and market analysis as reasons for the delay.

The Warren, Ohio, facility temporarily laid off 850 workers last fall and permanently cut 480 positions. A small number of employees were recently brought back, but most remain idle. The delay follows the loss of a $7,500 federal tax credit for EVs in September, which prompted automakers to reduce production.

GM and other manufacturers have adjusted output to align with lower demand, impacting battery supply chains and workforce plans.
