Nikkei and Hang Seng advance while US equity futures rise
Deutsche Bank strategists note a mixed global equity picture, with the Nikkei, CSI 300, Shanghai Composite, and Hang Seng all advancing.
The S&P 500 rose 0.36% despite a 0.17% pullback on Friday from Thursday’s record high, with the small cap Russell 2000 also reaching a record high.
European equities were more subdued, with the FTSE 100 falling back 1.38%, though the DAX reached a new record.
Underwhelming domestic growth has weighed on China’s main indices, which are flat year-to-date versus strong gains in the S&P 500 and Nikkei.
