June data shows easing wholesale inflation in Germany, driven by lower petroleum and metal prices, though annual figures remain elevated.
Germany’s wholesale price index declined 0.7% month-on-month in June, extending May’s 0.6% drop. The annual rate eased to 4.9%, down from 5.9% in May, reflecting cooling energy and raw material costs.
The monthly decline was led by a 6.8% drop in petroleum product prices and a 2.7% fall in non-ferrous metals and semi-finished products. Despite the downturn, both categories remain significantly higher year-on-year, up 21.7% and 31%, respectively.
Wholesale prices continue to reflect earlier spikes in energy and commodity costs tied to geopolitical tensions, though recent declines suggest easing pressure.
