GE Vernova has announced that Scotland’s Maraen Port of Nigg will serve as the marshalling hub for wind turbine components during the construction of phases B and C of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm.

The port will store and prepare Haliade-X offshore wind turbine components before workers load them onto installation vessels for transport to the Dogger Bank site in the North Sea. The Dogger Bank Wind Farm, now under development in three 1.2GW phases, will have a total installed capacity of 3.6GW. The project is a joint venture involving SSE (40%), Equinor (40%) and Vårgrønn (20%).

The selection of Maraen Port of Nigg reflects the port’s experience in managing offshore wind logistics, having supported four offshore wind campaigns since 2018. During that period, the facility has contributed to the deployment of nearly 4GW of UK offshore wind capacity. The port offers deep-water quays, ample laydown space, and heavy ground loading infrastructure, which meets the requirements for large-scale offshore wind projects.
