The GBP/JPY cross retreated below the 217.00 mark, trading at 216.50 with a 0.36% loss as traders pulled back from the earlier breakout. The decline follows the formation of an evening star pattern, a bearish technical signal suggesting a false breakout and potential further downside.

Prior resistance at 217.00 now acts as immediate support, with a break below 216.00 exposing the 50-day Simple Moving Average at 215.78. The 100-day SMA at 215.02 could follow if selling pressure persists. Conversely, a rebound above 217.00 may target 218.00 and July highs near 218.69.

The Japanese Yen’s movement remains influenced by Bank of Japan policy, yield differentials, and broader risk sentiment, though no direct intervention has been reported.
