Security firm Galaxy attributes 1,789 Bitcoin losses to the Coldcard hack, with 87% of stolen funds remaining unmoved onchain.
Cybersecurity firm Galaxy quantified losses from the Coldcard hack at 1,789 Bitcoin, or approximately $110 million at current prices. The tally includes 221 victim reports covering 790.72 BTC, representing 44.2% of the total stolen funds. The median loss per report was 1.04272 BTC, indicating over half of victims lost more than 1 Bitcoin.
The largest stolen holdings remain visible in attacker-controlled wallet addresses, with 87% of the funds yet to move. Galaxy has shared these addresses with exchanges, compliance firms, and law enforcement to potentially freeze the assets if transferred to centralized platforms.
No immediate market reaction was observed, as the stolen Bitcoin remains largely inactive onchain.
