Prosecutors allege Michelle Bond used funds from a consulting deal with FTX to illegally finance her 2022 congressional campaign.

Michelle Bond, spouse of former FTX Digital Markets co-CEO Ryan Salame, faces charges over $400,000 in alleged illegal campaign contributions. Prosecutors claim Salame arranged a consulting agreement between Bond and FTX, with funds funneled into her 2022 House bid.

Salame was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison in May 2024 for illegal political contributions and operating an unlicensed money transmitter. Bond had argued that prosecutors implied she would not be charged if Salame pleaded guilty, but a judge ruled no such promise was made.

The case highlights ongoing scrutiny of FTX-linked political financing, following Salame’s guilty plea and broader fallout from the exchange’s collapse.
