France’s May flash PMI readings disappointed, with services at 42.9, below the 46.6 forecast, and manufacturing at 48.9, missing the 52.2 estimate. The composite PMI dropped to 43.5, down from 47.6 in April and below the expected 47.7.

Prior readings showed services at 46.5 and manufacturing at 52.8, indicating a sharper-than-anticipated decline. The data suggests weakening economic activity in the eurozone’s second-largest economy.

Markets may interpret the figures as a sign of slowing growth, potentially influencing ECB policy expectations.
