Ford’s $10 billion energy storage venture and strong dividend outlook drive investor confidence amid a 13% single-day gain.

Ford Motor Company’s stock jumped 13% in a single session after announcing plans to expand into energy storage systems, marking its largest one-day gain since March 2020. The automaker aims to leverage lithium-ion battery technology for industrial and utility-scale storage, targeting 20 gigawatt hours of annual production by 2027.

Investors have long been cautious of Ford’s cyclical industry and thin margins, but the company’s high-margin Ford Pro division and improving vehicle quality are bolstering its outlook. The stock has underperformed over the past decade, rising just 12%, but analysts see potential in its dividend strategy and energy initiatives.

Morgan Stanley endorsed the move, highlighting the potential for new revenue streams. The announcement reflects Ford’s efforts to diversify beyond traditional automotive operations, aligning with broader industry shifts toward electrification and energy solutions.
