The Federal Reserve maintained its benchmark interest rate at Wednesday’s meeting, meeting market expectations. However, three regional Fed presidents dissented, voting for a 25-basis-point hike instead of holding steady.

The dissenting votes came from Dallas Fed’s Lorie Logan, Minneapolis Fed’s Neel Kashkari, and Cleveland Fed’s Beth Hammack. The policy statement remained unchanged and notably brief, avoiding forward guidance amid heightened economic uncertainty.

Chairman Kevin Warsh emphasized the Fed’s commitment to controlling inflation but acknowledged the challenges ahead. Markets reacted cautiously as the Fed signaled no immediate shift in policy direction.
