Anthropic joins a UK regulator’s AI testing program to explore fraud detection, compliance, and financial inclusion tools with 51% more applicants than the first intake.
Anthropic will participate in the UK Financial Conduct Authority’s Supercharged Sandbox, a program designed to test advanced artificial intelligence in a controlled environment. The initiative includes 21 organizations, with demand rising 51% from the first intake, reflecting strong industry interest in AI applications for finance.
The sandbox, launched in 2025, focuses on AI adoption at the discovery and trial stages, offering participants access to tools like Claude, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. Key areas of exploration include fraud detection, safer payment systems, governance frameworks, and improved access for underserved customers.
The FCA also introduced the Agentic Academy, a 10-week AI course for selected firms, further supporting AI integration in financial services. The regulator highlighted the program’s role in fostering innovation while maintaining safeguards.
