April’s inflation rate had matched March’s 3.0%, the lowest since September 2025. Analysts had expected a slight decline or stabilization, making the May print a surprise to consensus estimates.

ETFs tracking European equities, including EWG, GF, and EWI, showed muted reaction in early trading, while the EUR:USD pair remained steady near session lows.
