The European Union has committed €5m ($5.7m) to the ALADIN project, aimed at advancing circular textile production through digital innovation and recycling. Coordinated by German research institutes, the initiative launched in May 2026 and targets scalable manufacturing systems for sustainable textiles.

The project involves partners from Germany, Romania, Belgium, France, the Czech Republic, and Italy, focusing on digital platforms, regional production networks, and recycled materials. Key developments include a digital product passport for traceability and an AI-powered eco-design assistant to enhance sustainability.

ALADIN seeks to connect all stages of the textile value chain, from design to recycling, while promoting local and renewable raw materials. The funding is part of the EU’s broader push to reduce waste and improve resource efficiency in the textile sector.
