Larry Ellison backs son’s $110 billion bid with $40.4 billion guarantee
Larry Ellison has personally guaranteed $40.4 billion of the equity financing for his son’s $110 billion bid to buy Warner Bros. Discovery.
The deal faces opposition from 12 state attorneys general who have sued to block the merger, citing concerns over reduced competition.
Oracle stock has fallen 34% this month, vaporizing an estimated $213 billion of Ellison’s net worth, which now stands at around $175 billion.
The decline in Oracle’s stock price has coincided with the legal challenges to the Warner Bros. Discovery deal, which is one of the largest media mergers in history.
