The ECB assessed euro adoption readiness in five EU countries, publishing findings alongside the European Commission’s report.

The European Central Bank published its 2026 Convergence Report, evaluating progress toward euro adoption in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Sweden. The assessment, mandated by EU treaty provisions, was released alongside a parallel report from the European Commission and a related press statement on 24 June 2026.

The report follows the ECB’s standard review cycle and provides an update on economic and legal convergence criteria for the five non-euro area EU members. Previous assessments were conducted in 2024, with the next review expected in 2028.

Separately, the ECB approved the publication of the 2025 Bank Treasurer Survey Report, which gathered responses from 184 banks representing 72% of euro area banking assets and central bank reserves. The survey, conducted in October 2025, offers insights into banks’ liquidity management and demand for central bank reserves.
