The European Central Bank maintains rates unchanged, citing persistent energy price risks and inflation uncertainty.
The European Central Bank left its three key interest rates unchanged at its July meeting, keeping the deposit facility rate at 2.25%. The decision reflects ongoing volatility in energy prices, which remain elevated compared to pre-Middle East conflict levels, and uncertainty over inflationary pressures.
The ECB’s June projections had anticipated energy prices near current levels, but risks persist due to the conflict’s unresolved impact. Policymakers emphasized a data-dependent approach, avoiding pre-commitment to any rate path while monitoring inflation dynamics and monetary policy transmission.
Rates for main refinancing operations and the marginal lending facility remain at 2.40% and 2.65%, respectively. The ECB reiterated its commitment to stabilizing inflation at its 2% medium-term target.
