A bitcoin wallet dormant since July 16, 2011, transferred 49.97 BTC, valued at approximately $3.2 million, to an address linked to institutional crypto brokerage FalconX. The coins were originally acquired when bitcoin traded near $10 and had remained untouched for over a decade.
The receiving address has previously sent funds to FalconX and received transactions from wallets associated with Nexo and Prime Trust. The 49.97 BTC position has appreciated significantly despite multiple market cycles, including booms, crashes, and exchange failures.
The transaction occurs amid heightened security concerns following a recent exploit of Coldcard hardware wallets, though there is no evidence linking this wallet to the vulnerability.
