Billionaire hedge fund founder Ray Dalio recommends holding 10-15% in gold and Bitcoin over bonds due to looming US debt risks.
Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater Associates, urged investors to allocate 10% to 15% of portfolios to gold and a smaller portion to Bitcoin (BTC) instead of bonds. He cited risks from internal political and external geopolitical conflicts, warning of a potential US debt crisis within three years.
Dalio, whose net worth exceeds $15 billion, previously suggested holding 1% to 2% of Bitcoin in 2022 but increased his recommendation to up to 15% in gold and cryptocurrency in July 2025. He has historically viewed Bitcoin as a speculative asset but now sees it as a hedge alongside gold.
The comments align with his long-standing skepticism of debt assets, though he has expressed concerns about Bitcoin’s privacy and quantum computing threats. His stance reflects growing investor caution over traditional safe-haven assets like bonds.
