US-based restaurant chain California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) has selected T-ROC Global to roll out up to 1,000 automated retail machines over a three-year period.

The initiative aims to expand the brand’s footprint into high-footfall venues unsuitable for conventional restaurant formats

Planned locations include airports, electric vehicle charging hubs, hospitals, hotels, office complexes, residential sites, and universities. The automated units will feature touchscreen interfaces, operational data systems, and integrated Turbo-chef cooking technology that prepares a pizza in 90 seconds. The initial rollout will target 30 major US markets, deploying clusters of at least 20 units per territory to build regional operational density.

CPK global president Michael Beacham said: “For decades, CPK has been dedicated to meeting consumers wherever they are, whether through our global restaurant network, airport and non-traditional locations, off-site events, or the local grocery store where we’ve been a leading premium pizza brand for 25 years.” “Our automated retail strategy, now accelerated through a partnership with T-ROC, introduces CPK to entirely new occasions and venues where consumers desire quality food on the go.” The agreement scales up an automated retail pilot CPK began testing last year. The restaurant chain currently operates units across Atlanta, Boston Logan, Dallas Love Field, and Dayton airports, with a further 15 installations scheduled across university campuses later this year. As agreed in the new deal, T-ROC will also serve as nationwide service provider for CPK’s other automated retail operating partners.
