The bitcoin miner and AI colocation provider expands its board to seven directors with Adams’ appointment.
Core Scientific (NASDAQ: CORZ) added Mark W. Adams, former CEO of Penguin Solutions, to its board, increasing the total number of directors to seven. Adams brings over 30 years of experience in AI infrastructure, semiconductors, and enterprise hardware, having led Penguin Solutions until his retirement in February 2026.
The company, which operates 11 facilities across seven states, has shifted focus toward high-density colocation services, with most revenue now derived from colocation rather than bitcoin mining. Adams’ background aligns with Core Scientific’s transition into AI infrastructure markets.
Adams will serve as an adviser to Penguin Solutions for nine months following the appointment of Kash Shaikh as CEO on February 2. Core Scientific CEO Adam Sullivan highlighted Adams’ expertise in AI infrastructure and data storage as valuable for the company’s growth.
