CMCSA stock falls to $21.92 despite $4.6 billion quarterly free cash flow as broadband losses and wireless pivot weigh on earnings.
Comcast shares have dropped nearly 30% over the past year, underperforming the S&P 500’s 18% gain, as the company grapples with declining broadband subscribers and margin pressure from its wireless expansion. The stock now trades at $21.92, down from its 52-week high of $32.05, with net margins shrinking to 9.0% from 18.4% a year earlier.
Despite these challenges, Comcast generated $4.6 billion in free cash flow last quarter, converting 159% of reported net income into spendable cash. The company returned $2.1 billion to shareholders, including $900 million in buybacks, highlighting its ability to sustain payouts even as earnings face headwinds.
The divergence between weak stock performance and robust cash flow underscores investor concerns about long-term growth, particularly as broadband losses persist and theme park revenue softens.
