Citi will offer Bitcoin custody as part of its Custody+ suite, allowing institutional clients to store digital and traditional assets together. The service, announced Tuesday, accelerates plans initially set for a 2026 launch, reflecting growing demand for crypto infrastructure among banks.

The move follows Citi’s October announcement and builds on its real-time processing capabilities, with over 80% of asset-servicing events now settled instantly. The bank’s Citi Token Services also supports 24/7 tokenized deposit transfers across select markets, aligning with broader industry shifts toward blockchain-based solutions.

Wall Street’s push into digital assets continues, with NYSE, Citi, and BNY collaborating on a blockchain platform for tokenized stocks and ETFs. Morgan Stanley’s recent trust bank charter application further signals institutional adoption of crypto services.
