Chinese humanoid robotics startup LimX Dynamics has raised $200 million in a pre-IPO funding round, valuing the company at 15 billion yuan ($2.21 billion). The capital influx comes as the firm prepares for a likely Hong Kong listing, entering a confidential review phase. Overseas investors, including UAE-based Stone Venture and Germany’s Redstone VC, participated in the round.

Investment in China’s humanoid sector surged to 47.09 billion yuan ($6.95 billion) in Q2, more than double the previous quarter and over six times year-over-year. The rush follows Beijing’s push for “embodied AI” and fast-tracked IPO approvals, mirroring the trajectory of electric vehicle startups like Nio and Xpeng.

Founder Will Zhang emphasized the urgency of going public, warning that delays could risk obsolescence. The sector now counts over 100 companies, with Unitree already approved for a Shanghai listing and Hong Kong processing additional applications.
