New patent-pending system allows nicotine pouch makers to comply with child-resistant regulations without altering production equipment or FDA submissions.

Chemular has launched Safeguard Mark I, a child-resistant packaging solution for nicotine pouches. The system enables manufacturers to meet regulatory requirements without modifying existing production lines or impacting pending FDA premarket tobacco product applications (PMTAs).

The platform is designed as a universal, transparent outer component that preserves branding, labels, and UPC barcodes. Chemular stated the solution addresses a key industry challenge by avoiding changes to the container itself, which could disrupt prior regulatory filings.

Safeguard general manager Sam Benaim noted the system requires only a single application station, supporting multiple can formats and minimizing operational disruptions. The design aims to accelerate market compliance for manufacturers.
