The Canadian senior-housing operator reported 17% growth in FFO per unit, driven by higher occupancy and $1 billion in acquisitions year-to-date.

Chartwell Retirement Residences (TSE:CSH.UN) reported a 34% year-over-year increase in second-quarter funds from operations to $90.5 million, with FFO per unit rising 17% to $0.28. Same-property occupancy climbed 320 basis points to 94.3%, while adjusted net operating income grew 11.9%.

The company completed over $1 billion in acquisitions so far this year, including a 30% stake in the Seasons portfolio, and announced 828 new development suites. Liquidity stood at $614 million as of August 7, following $167 million in non-core asset sales in 2026.

Net loss narrowed to $1.3 million from $5.7 million a year earlier, supported by a $27.6 million increase in adjusted NOI, partially offset by $4 million in higher expenses.
