Nasdaq-listed Central Garden & Pet expands European footprint with acquisition of Trixie, a Germany-based pet treats supplier.

Central Garden & Pet has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Trixie, a German pet treats and snacks company, from founder Bonnik Hansen and other shareholders. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, though Central Garden & Pet reported $3.1bn in total group sales last year.

Trixie, founded in 1974, employs around 600 people and supplies pet stores in Germany and internationally. The company will retain its existing management team post-acquisition, with key executives remaining as minority shareholders.

Central Garden & Pet stated the deal strengthens its position in European pet supplies markets, adding logistics and retail expertise. The transaction is expected to enhance long-term growth in both Europe and the U.S.
