The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed above 54,100, marking a 900-point gain driven largely by Caterpillar’s 6% surge. The company’s strong Q2 results and raised revenue guidance, fueled by data center demand, accounted for roughly a third of the index’s advance.

The index rose for a fourth consecutive session, adding nearly 2,500 points since July 29. Caterpillar’s share price, starting near $830, translated to a $50 gain per share, equating to about 300 Dow points due to the index’s price-weighting methodology.

While other stocks like Palantir and Micron saw significant gains, their impact on the Dow was limited as they are not part of the 30-component index.
