BYD sold over 160,000 new energy vehicles overseas in May, marking its highest monthly export total. The figure reflects a strategic shift amid slowing domestic demand and intense price competition in China.

The company’s European registrations jumped 158% year-over-year, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association. BYD also surpassed Tesla and Kia as the top EV brand in the U.K. during early 2026.

BYD plans to unveil eight new models across three brands at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, signaling an aggressive expansion push.
