The discovery in northern Botswana targets a geological corridor linked to Africa’s major copper belts, signaling potential new deposits.
Botswana Minerals identified 36 copper anomalies across two of its eight licenses in northern Botswana, using an AI-driven exploration platform. The findings are grouped into six corridors within an under-explored geological belt connecting Namibia’s Damara Belt to Zambia and the DRC’s Central African Copperbelt.
The anomalies share geological characteristics with established deposits like Kamoa-Kakula in the DRC and Namibia’s Tsumeb. The study combined machine learning with geological data, including mapping, geophysics, and remote sensing, to pinpoint sediment-hosted and structurally controlled mineralization.
Fieldwork is set to begin within three months, with further announcements expected as exploration progresses. The company aims to prioritize targets and develop field programs for key corridors.
